Renee TenEyck was born and raised in Silver Spring, Maryland, and is deeply rooted in the Montgomery County community. She has been part of Scotland Storm since its inception and brings a passion for supporting youth and families in the Scotland community. A proud parent of two Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS) graduates, Renee understands the challenges and opportunities facing local students and families.
In addition to her work with Scotland Storm, Renee serves as a Family Service Worker in the MCPS Pre-K/Head Start Unit, where she supports families through enrollment, goal-setting, and connection to community resources. In this role, she develops Family Partnership Agreements, coordinates parent training sessions, and provides crisis intervention and ongoing support to ensure families have the tools they need to thrive. Previously, Renee worked as a paraeducator at Winston Churchill High School, where she saw firsthand the academic and social hurdles students encounter. She has built strong, trusted relationships within the Scotland community and is committed to creating opportunities for children and families to succeed.

Chris and Lauren Mead are the founders of Scotland Storm, created out of their deep commitment to educational equity and their belief in the power of community. Motivated by the persistent opportunity gaps facing students in vulnerable communities, they launched Scotland Storm to provide academic support, enrichment, and mentorship for children in the historic Scotland community and beyond.
Chris and Lauren are passionate advocates for ensuring that every child—regardless of background or circumstance—has access to the tools and opportunities needed to thrive. Their vision, persistence, and generosity have been central to the growth of Scotland Storm from a grassroots initiative into a trusted program that blends academics, athletics, and community-building. They remain actively engaged in the program through fundraising, advocacy, and ongoing support to ensure its continued success.
